Hi charlotte,

A person centred approach focuses on people's rights to make their own choices and decisions even if this means taking risks. A risk assessment enables you to respect their choices and find the safest way to help them manage those risks.

Think about care plans and risk assessments, keeping staff safe eg moving and handling and risk assessments of the environment and equipment.

Think about the individual's rights to take risks, their duties not to put others at risk, your duties to keep them and others safe and your rights not to be put at risk.

Because situations and circumstances can change.

Hope that helps
