Please help with this question on Diploma Level 3 new version:
Describe how individuals from different backgrounds may use/ or interpret communication methods to understand what is being discussed?

Hi squash,

Not sure about this question but 3.1 asks you to:

Explain how people from different backgrounds may use and/or interpret communication methods in different ways.

This is about the different ways that different people communicate ie what is normal to one may not be normal to others.

For example in some cultures women are not expected to speak to men when alone. If a man from a different culture speaks to her he might see her lack of response as rudeness. Or in some cultures it is normal to be animated and use arm movements during communication but to another culture this is seen as aggressive.
