Hi Mrs C - so sorry your post seems to have slipped past me!
Current legislation around medication includes Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH); The Medicines Act (divides medication up into prescription only, general sales - where medication is available in your local corner shop and medicines which you can purchase over the counter but needs a pharmacist present) and The Misuse of Drugs Act (which classes drugs A, B or C and outlines the penalties for supplying or using etc)
Guidelines include those given to registered nurses by the Nursing Midwifery Council and includes how medicines should be administered and records kept or Guidelines given to Social Care Workers such as care staff in residential homes who administer medicines (by the General Social Care Council).  Policies and procedures will be found in your own setting and will be relatively unique to your home/care setting/provider so you will need to access and identify these (for example there will be a policy and procedure around how to administer and dispose of controlled drugs).
