Hello,

A client wants to have a bacon sandwich.  The bacon has past its use-by date by three days.  The bacon is starting to show green spots in places.   You highlight your concerns to the client and the client is adamant that they still want to have this bacon cooked and put into a sandwich.  What do you do?  Give reasons.

Hi samday,

The individual has the right to make their own choices and take risks. You cannot over rule them. Record your concerns and that the individual has been given information about the dangers and risks etc.

Hope that helps

Hello,
Although I agree the client has the right to a choice you can not give them food which is out of date. You have a duty of care towards this person and therefore if you were to give them something knowing it would harm them this may be seen as bad practice.
Hope this helps.
