Department: Community Services

Based on the picturesque island of Islay situated off the West Coast of Scotland, this position needs to be filled by a forward thinking practitioner who has the ability to take on the role of Social Worker in a generic team.

A typical case load is likely to include Children and Family cases, dealing with Child Protection issues including Child Protection investigations, children affected by disabilities and those who are dealt with through the Children's Hearing system. This is expected to lead to formulation of care plans and the careful monitoring of need and service provision. As the post is in a generic Social Work team, there will also be adult cases dealing with assessment of need and care planning of care packages with adults, including older people and those dealing with mental health issues and/or substance misuse issues. There is potential for dealing with Adult Protection investigations and vulnerable adults.

It is accepted that potential candidates may not have experience of working with all of the groups of people which we support on Islay and Jura and so candidates' transferable skills will be taken into account.
